App Description
The SOFA calculator was created to assist physicians adhere to the new sepsis recommendations. The goal of this application is to assist internists, intensivists, fellows, residents, and interns practice evidence based medicine. It provides a quick way to calculate qSOFA and SOFA. The sepsis organ failure assessment has proven to an accurate tool for predicting mortality in patients who it would apply to. Please refer to the 2015 Surviving Sepsis Campaign sepsis bundle revision, the findings of AIRSE, ProMISe, and ProCESS trials.
Sepsis is one the leading causes of mortality in hospitalized patients. Efforts in treating a septic patient are time dependent. It is therefore of the essence that physicians have the right tools at their disposal. Tools that would help assess the severity of the patient and diagnose sepsis using evidence based medicine.
