It's a long way from Subway Surfers to Infinity Blade, but Dawnbringer pulls it most of the way off.

Rodeo Stampede guide to running a better zoo

Posted by Nick Tylwalk on June 24th, 2016
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

In Rodeo Stampede, honing your skills so you can jump from animal to animal and outrun the herd as long as possible is only half the fun. Once you've tamed a few animals, you can bring them home with you.

To live in your floating zoo in the sky, of course! We're not even making that up.

Catch Battleplans on Google Play from June 30th

Posted by 148Apps Staff on June 24th, 2016

Real-time strategy title Battleplans is due for release on Google Play on June 30th, following its release for iOS systems last month. With its simple interface and pretty graphics, the crowd-pleaser brings a formerly overlooked genre out for the masses.

Instead of focusing on more traditional elements of real-time strategy, the title centres on unique tactical movement features and unit position, instead of base building and resource grinding. Precision is key with Battleplans, allowing players to control units intricately, despite the real-time aspects.

Five popular free apps to help you slim down for the summer

Posted by Nick Tylwalk on June 24th, 2016

Thanks to retail and advertising, we're used to thinking one season ahead. Here we are just a week into the summer and we're conditioned to start thinking about the fall.

Forget that. There's plenty of summer left, and that means you'll likely be hitting the pool, the beach, or some other place where you'll be more scantily clad than during other parts of the year. Is there still time to drop a few pounds before you don a swimsuit?

How to ride longer and tame more animals in Rodeo Stampede

Posted by Nick Tylwalk on June 24th, 2016

It's hard to accurately describe Rodeo Stampede to people who haven't seen it yet. It's like if someone took Crossy Roadand Disco Zoo and put them in a blender, yet with a unique game mechanic that's still simple and fun for anyone.

While there's more to it than just learning how to lasso animals, that's a pretty good place to start since you'll never be a sky zoo tycoon without befriending some animals first. With that in mind, here are some tips on how to ride longer and tame more animals to get you stampeding on your way.

NinjAwesome: Tips and tricks to be a more awesome ninja

Posted by Nick Tylwalk on June 23rd, 2016
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

Sorry about that headline, but I'm going to go ahead and assume that GameResort would not have named its game NinjAwesome without expecting some of that. It is, in fact, pretty awesome the way it combines an endless runner and old school arcade style action, so the adjective is properly used here.

This isn't a complicated affair by any means, but perfecting your ninja skills does take a little practice. If only some way the wisdom of ninjas through the ages could be transmitted to those who seek to utilize those arts in the present ...

The general gist of the game centres on a table-based board game situation, where players must outsmart enemies using a variety of different cards and skill sets, including Boost Items and Characters who work to bankrupt opponents of their JOY.

Top apps to help with summer road trips

Posted by Nick Tylwalk on June 22nd, 2016

Benjamin Franklin once famously said that the only certainties in life were death and taxes. During the summer, you can add another thing to that list: lots of people are going to be hitting the road for their vacations.

It wasn't too long ago that travel during the summer months meant breaking out the road atlas and being able to read road signs. Now, of course, all the help you used to need for navigation, lodging, and anything else you might need on a road trip is as close as your phone or tablet.

How to show off your green thumb in Viridi

Posted by Nick Tylwalk on June 21st, 2016

Most mobile games demand your attention. They either want you playing them as often as possible in the hopes of getting you to spend some money on in-app purchases, ask you to watch video ads while you are playing, or request permission to send you notifications so you'll log back in again.

Viridi isn't like that at all. In fact, you can consider it that anti-game since it isn't frantically up in your grill at any time and seems perfectly content letting you proceed at your own pace -- probably because it's about raising a potted plant.

Best replacements for default iOS apps

Posted by Nick Tylwalk on June 21st, 2016

When iOS 10 arrives in earnest this fall, it will bring with it a feature that has been long requested by Apple users: the ability to delete the default apps that come pre-installed on your iPhone or iPad.

For most people, the desire to get rid of the default iOS apps has less to do with the fact that they somehow stink and more to do with maximizing precious space. With every bit of memory precious, why leave apps you don't use on your phone or tablet?

Bonecrusher: Tips, tricks and hints for higher scores

Posted by Nick Tylwalk on June 20th, 2016
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

There's nothing too subtle about Bonecrusher, the latest game to make an impression on the App Store charts with Crossy Road-esque visuals and simple gameplay. It's crush or be crushed, requiring quick reflexes so you can be somewhere else when the spikes start dropping.

Maybe it's a thoughtful, implied disquisition on the inevitability of death. More likely, it's just fun, fast-paced arcade style action that anyone can pick up and play without needing to know all that much.

5 apps to give as last minute Father's Day gifts

Posted by Nick Tylwalk on June 18th, 2016

So in case you hadn't heard, it's Father's Day soon. As in this Sunday. If you're reading this and this is news to you, it means you haven't bought dear old Dad a present yet.

That's bad. After all those hours he spent playing football with you even though he knew you were never going to grow up to become the next Wayne Rooney, you just went and did him dirty like that. And now it's too late to order anything online, because it's not showing up in time.

Tips and tricks for higher scores in Coin Party: Carnival Pusher

Posted by Nick Tylwalk on June 17th, 2016
+ Universal App - Designed for iPhone and iPad

If you've seen Coin Party: Carnival Pusherleaping up the App Store charts and been confused about its appeal, you obviously didn't spend as much of your youth in arcades as I did.

In a similar fashion to slots games, pusher games allow players to experience for free what would otherwise be considered gambling by most people and jurisdictions. You're playing for points, not profit, and the main game mechanic is incredibly simple yet strangely soothing at the same time.

Dawnbringer tips, tricks, and hints

You've played games like Dawnbringer before. It's impossible not to fire up the latest from Kiloo and be instantly reminded of Infinity Blade and its sequels.

Succeeding at this gamerequires good reflexes, the ability to memorize patterns, and not a little bit of patience, since you'll be doing some of the same tasks repeatedly. It's not a complicated affair, but does that mean there aren't tidbits of information to help you on your quest?
