The Berenstain Bears Do Their Best is a very nice adaptation of the classic Berenstain Bears books by Oceanhouse Media, now part of the “Living Lights” series of Christian-themed books.

Recently, my son and I inherited a large box of books from a family friend who is now heading off to college. We were thrilled to find that the box included titles from Dr Seuss, Berenstain Bears, and Little Critters libraries and we love to read all of these stories both in their classic form as well as ebooks by Oceanhouse Media, as applications are especially convenient when were are away from the house.

This app is a lovely adaptation of the 2010 version of this story, now a member of the “Living Lights” series of books, which is written to “help children learn how God wants them to live every day” and has new religious-themed lines included throughout this classic story. It would be a wonderful choice for those looking for Christian-themed stories or just a nice Berenstain tale of a family working together, here as they enter a local kite-flying contest.

Like all Oceanhouse Media apps based on classic books, the options include reading the book by oneself or listening to it being read out loud by a narrator. Auto Play is also an option which turns the pages automatically, a nice touch especially for the youngest viewers. Be sure to tap around the page to learn the name of each object that is touched, both by seeing the word appear on the screen as well as by hearing the word spoken out loud.

I am a huge fan of the Oceanhouse library of classic book apps and I am a huge fan of the Berenstain Bears as well. I would love to continue to see more Berenstain Bears books be developed into applications, especially my all-time favorite: Inside Outside Upside Down. I look forward to seeing what Oceanhouse Media has coming up in the future.
