What's NewThis major revision now supports internationalization [the automatic display of text in the user's local language]. Initial languages include English [the Default], Spanish, French, German, Italian, Netherlands [Dutch], Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), and Chinese (Traditional).
The app displays have been redesigned to support iOS7, and maps and 'Facts' have been added for each of the prefectures of Japan. 'Yunnan Province' has also been added to the list of Chinese provinces after being accidentally omitted previously.
Mini country flags have been added next to the country names in the tables. Similar mini flags are also shown for the prefectures of Japan and provinces of China (when known).
A new 'Settings' tab is provided to specify the user's preference of GPS display formats, and that preference is stored and active until changed.
App DescriptionOur unique zoomable 'Asia-East' map atlas is now available in the languages of English [the Default], Spanish, French, German, Italian, Netherlands [Dutch], Japanese, Chinese (Simplified), and Chinese (Traditional). It generates custom real-time regional maps plus separate maps for each country and for the very large metropolitan areas. Separate maps are also included for each of the prefectures of Japan and for each of the provinces of China. The geographical area covered in this app ranges from China in the west to Japan in the east.
Easily switch between 'Road', 'Hybrid', or 'Satellite' maps, and zoom in (and out) to any detail level desired -- down to the house level! Change to a different area of focus with the drag of a finger and your display is instantly updated. Your Current Location is always highlighted by an animated blue dot, if you choose to allow the app to use your current location.
Tapping a 'Facts' Button, when shown, displays extensive relevant interactive descriptive information from Wikipedia. By following indicated links, more facts and photos are available in a specific areas of interest.
Using the 'Settings' tab, you can select the GPS Coordinates format to be displayed on all maps. Three different popular display formats are supported: Traditional [dddmmss.xx] , Modern [ddd.xxxxx], and Geocaching [dddmm.xxx]. As you drag or zoom on a map display, the GPS coordinates of the center of the display are automatically updated.
Using the 'World' tab, tap an appropriate button to launch any of the other component apps in our World Atlas series that are installed on the device.
