App Description

Note: This is the first version of the "POP" (Public Opinion Polls) app. We are asking you, the public, to try it out and tell us what things you like about the app and what things you don't like. If you discover a glitch, tell us about it, if you think we should add something let us know or if you think we should change or remove a feature tell us that too.

With your feedback we plan to update POP and make it into the fun and exciting social platform that we envisioned when creating it.

We look forward to your feedback at [email protected].

Thank you.

*Read about the POP app below.

The POP company has chosen an “If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it” mentality with its app. The first thing users will notice is that the interface, like those of Reddit, Tumblr and Instagram, is simple; a few words, a few buttons (that enhance the user experience) and TONS and TONS of user photos and videos.

Users can post 1,2, 3 or 4 item polls using their photos and videos to garner the opinions of other users on a wide variety of subjects; what outfit to wear, what to have for lunch, who to take on a date, which selfie is hotter and the list goes on.

The beauty of using the POP platform is its continuance of what users are already used to doing, posting their own photos and videos, but with an added twist. Sticking to what users are already familiar with was important to the creators of the POP app. POP was created to appeal to the same demographic as Instagram so it was important that the app have no trace of a business feel to it.

Two unique features of the POP app are timed polls and instant polls. Having a limited time to respond to polls adds to the fun and addictive nature of using the POP app.

Timed Polls: Using the signature POP logo button centered on the lower menu bar of the app, users access the photo or video poll creation area. There, a dial allows for quick selection of the number of items to be used for a poll (1-4) and the length of time that the poll will field votes, ranging from 1 minute to 24 hours in length.

Instant Polls: The grey numbers, 1-10 on the timer dial, are reserved for instant polling. If users want to alert their follower base to the need for their immediate opinion, using the instant poll feature will send an alert to the upper notification menu of all persons following a user.

(The grey numbers are only available for the minutes setting. If a user selects hours the dial will change to a completely white background.)

As would be expected, items in a poll rack up a live, real-time tally. POP chose to use a percentage voting system rounded up to the nearest whole number to provide an easy visual of which item is leading a vote at any given time.

Once the timer on a poll has expired, users will be asked if they would like the winning item (photo or video) to post to their timeline / profile page.

Profile page: The profile page was kept simple and the fat was trimmed down to only the necessary details. Users can keep track of their followers, who they are following as well as their polls.

Follower / Following: Instantly see what others are voting on by clicking either the Follower of Following section. Scroll vertically to see a list of all users that are either following or being followed respectively. Scroll horizontally under any user name on the list to see a screen shot of polls they are currently voting on. If a user sees a poll they like on the list of polls under any user name, they can simply click on the screenshot and immediately be taken to the poll to vote or comment on it themselves.

Polls: The “Polls” section of the profile menu provides a quick and easy way for users to keep track of the polls they are voting on as well as the polls they have created. The ‘my polls’ and ‘currently voting’ tabs take the user to a scrolling list of all live polls that the user has voted on or that they themselves have created.
