Pokémon GO is set to give Mega Evolved Pokémon even higher heights of power

Towards the end of last month, we covered the arrival of Mega Victreebel and Mega Malamar in Pokémon GO. Well, that surprisingly was not the end of the Mega news. Far from it.

Attendees at the events in Tainan and Los Angeles (and from February 28th, the rest of the world), will be able to harness the power of the Super Max Mega Evolution.

Besides sounding like a Dragon Ball Transformation, this is a new way to extract more power from your Megas. But let's start with Super Mega Raids. Your targets here will be considerably more powerful, and can only be taken on by players who have at least one Mega-Evolved Pokémon in the party.

A tough bout, but you get more Mega Energy and rewards from them.

Starting with Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos, all Mega Raids, including Super Mega Raids, can be entered with a Link Charge. If playing locally, it will take either this new resource or a Premium Battle Pass. But for Remote Super Mega Raids, you will need both Link Charges and a Remote Raid Pass. You collect Link Charges by completing weekly challenges, opening gifts, and engaging in community features such as Campfire. 

So, that is the raids, now it's time for the good stuff. The Super Max Mega level. Each time you Mega Evolve your pal, it will increase their Mega Level. Pretty straightforward; keep doing that, and you will eventually reach Super Max. With the help of some Mega Energy to reach that final level, annoyingly. 

When you hit this lofty height, your friend will gain greatly enhanced CP, a higher chance to gain Catch Candy, Catch XP, and Candy XL for Pokémon of the same type as your Mega-Evolved one, and the rest period before Mega Evolving without Mega Energy drops to 24 hours.

There is one issue, though. It seems like this will only be available to Mega Victreebel and Mega Malamar upon launch. Or they are hiding the list of available Pokémon very well. It will roll out to more in the future, so I shall impatiently wait for my Super Saiyan Mega God Blue Evolved Lucario.
