Pokémon GO introduces two new Mega Evolutions from Z-A
Lord help us all when Mega Starmie starts walking amongst us
Do you remember when The Pokémon Company decided to shut up everyone clamouring for Mega Evolutions by releasing Pokémon: Z-A? And they created some god-awful Mega abominations, like turning Lucario into some weird fish hybrid? Well, it is official, there is no escape, as the first original Megas from Z-A are crawling into Pokémon Go.
The two critters making their way to mobile will be Mega Malamar and Mega Victreebel. The latter of which, by the way, has one of the greatest reveal trailers in history. Whoever thought of tapping Resident Evil to announce this goofy-looking acid sack needs a raise, pronto.
They will be making their first debut during the in-person Pokémon Go Tour: Kalos events that take place from February 20th through to the 22nd. Of course, to attend these, you need to be around Los Angeles and Tainan, which I do believe the majority of us are not.
Sad times.

Luckily, though, the rest of us will be able to catch these two new monsters during the Pokémon Go Tour: Kalos - Global event that happens the week after. That will be February 28th to March 1st. All events will also debut their shiny forms, although personally, I never really enjoyed the shiny versions in general.
Fans of shiny things and aesthetics will also want to hunt down the three Special Pokémon backgrounds. There are two inspired by Pokémon X and Y, and a third that represents Mega evolutions. Pikachu's wearing Serena's or Calem’s hat and Honedge can be found with X or Y, as can Xerneas and Yveltal, respectively. Somewhat obviously, you need to hit Mega Raids for the third one.
Paid ticket holders can take part in special research that result in an encounter with one of the two legendaries as well. This is all well and good, but Mega Lucario is on the schedule for Mega Raids, and that is free, so save that money. Pokémon Go is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
