I don’t know about you, but I suspect that someone over at Digital Extremes might be a fan of mushrooms. Warframe’s newest update, The Vallis Undermind, is now available, and it is quite heavy on the old fungi front. There's a new arena, a new Warframe, and a much-requested rework on an old favourite.

Let's start with the 62nd Warframe, Nokko. This mushroom-themed friend throws poisonous mushrooms at their foes that can cause them to doze off, as well as sprouting beneficial mushrooms that upgrade ally defences. They can also transform into a baby Sprodling mushroom to become untargetable and heal rapidly, or fire out a ballistic mushroom that explodes and bounces off everything it touches.

Also, did I mention the mushrooms?

As always, you can nab this new Warframe for free via the power of grinding. The blueprints and resources can be received through Nightcap Bounties, available in The Deepmines. Say you are scared of mushrooms, though, and want a new way to play? Well, Oberon is being given away for free between October 15th and 21st, with a rework to bring them into the modern competitive age.

Whoever you choose to use, like my beloved Ash Prime, you can take them to The Deepmines. You can find the aforementioned Nightcap for their bounties, as well as receive a Foraging Journal to complete and earn Fergolyte from. You can feed this to The Prince mushroom to unlock Visions that will fill you in on the backstory of Nokko, The Deepmines, and Nightcap.

Of course, you can only play through this new story if you have completed The New War Quest. But it isn't just current players that Digital Extremes is looking after. Completely new players can benefit from the early game The Teacher cinematic quest. Developed with Sumo Digital, you will be taken under the wing of Teshin as they teach you have to mod your equipment. You will also earn the Thornback rifle. This quest is available just after completing Vor’s Prize, the game's prologue.

The Night of Naberius Halloween event returns until November 3rd, with new cosmetics available from familiar-face Baro Ki’Teer. Or, you can head to the Dreams of the Dead Nightwave for your fill of daily, weekly, and evergreen challenges from October 28th.

For more cosmetics, check out the Warframe Market for shiny new skins for Lavos and Wukong, or delve into the new set of TennoGen goodies, including a Degath Yhavan Warframe Skin and a Gothica Syandana backpiece.

Warframe is available to download from the App Store.
