Tomb Busters releases in the West after dominating in China
I know it's not “unique” downloads, but enough downloads to count for 15% of China's population is impressive
Back in ye olde times of last month - ah, we were so young and full of life - Tomb Busters opened for pre-registration in the West. That was after it had already set China alight with some fierce popularity. Now this hit is fully available outside of Asia, and it is kicking off Halloween early.
For something that was only available in China, the numbers Tomb Busters put up are genuinely impressive. Over 200 million downloads, about 15% of the population, 10 million daily active users, and a massive 140 billion social media views, it is rare to have something launch that you can 100% guarantee is special.
Tomb Busters places you in the shoes of a tomb raider who works for the Supernatural Company. This team of fearless friends delves into crypts fastooned in Chinese folklore, all in the pursuit of treasure. Is there a nobler cause for ransacking the resting place of the dead? I think not, gimmie those earrings.

Death by Red Panda sounds like an adorable way to go
You will come across a multitude of creatures, all ready to show you why grave robbing is frowned upon. The Red Panda will lure you in with its soft whimpers, but let it cry too long, and they will mutate into something worse. Or you might encounter an Alternate, a perfect copy of a teammate that will shank you when you turn around. To be fair, your friend might choose to do that for a laugh anyway. And speaking of laughs, Giant Games is clearly trying to trade on the success of titles like Lethal Company and Content Warning. Play Tomb Busters alone, and you are in for a fright, but the devs are banking on a full team of four turning each expedition into a comedy of errors and everyone screaming over each other while a Red Panda eats your face. Clearly, 140 billion social media views are not enough for them.
Tomb Busters is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
