AFK Journey is colliding with the digital world as Digimon arrives on August 18th

As a long-time fan of the franchise, I am delighted to see Digimon popping up multiple times lately. Yes, sadly, one was the god-awful Digimon Up, which I am convinced was developed by undercover Pokémon Company goons to make Gabumon look bad. Hopefully our favourite monsters will redeem themselves on August 18th, in a collaboration with AFK Journey. 

One day, during players' adventures in Esperia, things take an unexpected turn as Taichi, Yamato, Agumon, and Gabumon fall out of the Digital World right into our paths. That is Tai and Matt for Western readers. Obviously, they are eager to get back to the land of awesome digital monsters, so our heroes set off to find a way home.

As you play through the crossover story, you will find yourself with bags full of event currency and upgrade materials. You can spend the former on more upgrade materials, Digimon crossover Invite Letters, and more. Most importantly, Gabumon and Agumon are available to recruit. They bring Tai and Matt with them, but who cares?

Both are packing useful skills, such as Agumon having a shield and heal, and Gabumon bringing buffs. However, their Ultimate Skills are where the fun is. When used for the first time in battle, Agumon will digivolve to WarGreymon, and Gabumon will digivolve to MetalGarurumon. Any subsequent use will unleash some Mega-powerful attacks.

That is not all. You will be able to spend more time with Gabumon, and to a lesser extent Agumon, in the new bonding system. Train, feed, and play with your favourites enough, and you will unlock powerful bonuses to use during the event. Also, becoming best friends with Gabumon is a prize unto itself.
