Persona 5: The Phantom X is unleashing double trouble with its first Almighty 5-Star Unit

The urge to make constant Wonder Twins jokes with this event was palpable

I am pretty excited for Version 2.7 of Persona 5: The Phantom, even though I don’t even play it. The update is already active, and releases two new 5-star Characters, or technically one, maybe. Justine and Caroline, from the Persona 5 Velvet Room, will be available to recruit.

Now, the reason this makes me happy is that I love the Persona series, minus 5. And this marks one of the few times you can actually battle alongside a Velvet Room attendant. Besides Elizabeth and Margaret being selectable in the Arena subseries, you usually only do battle against the attendants, so this is pretty fun. At least to me.

It just gets better when you take a look at them, too. Justine & Caroline are the first Virtuoso unit and the first 5-star Almighty character. They possess 4 skills, ranging from dealing damage, healing, or providing other general support. You get to pick two of them to take into battle, with the combination unlocking different roles and effects in battle.

Obviously, these are an instant pull. The vast majority of enemies in the Persona series don’t have resistance against Almighty, which is already a plus. But then, having a unit you can slot into any role that you might need? They're also pretty interesting characters in an otherwise ruined game. I just can’t mentally move past Morgana in Mementos.

Anyway, transport trauma aside, after you recruit the must-have unit, why not get to know them in the Crossroads of Fate: Twins Arc event? Wonder will team up with the twins to complete missions and earn Ancient Rebel Coins to spend on the likes of Gold Tickets.

You can also throw down in an epic boss battle that gets tougher based on the Distortion Level. So crank it up and give yourself a real challenge. Beat them, and you will earn more coins, plus Joy Medals to purchase a protagonist-exclusive weapon, casual wear, and more.

Persona 5: The Phantom X is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
