Honkai: Star Rail's Blade SP is not an Elation unit, but another Fire-Nihility character

Just as expected.

Elation is the star of version 4.x, just as Remembrance was for version 3.x. I've mentioned before that there's no male 5-star Remembrance character, and it seems HoYo is going to keep the pattern going with the Path of Elation.

Version 4.0 started with Yao Guang and Sparxie, both of which are Elation characters. Then, 4.1 comes with Ashveil, a Hunt unit. Yet version 4.2 was teased with two more Elation characters, Silver Wolf LV.999 and Evanescia. Now, Mortenax Blade is revealed as a Fire-Nihility character.

So Blade is not only not an Elation unit, but he's going to be the fifth Fire-Nihility character, following Guinaifen, Jiaoqiu, Fugue, and the Dahlia. This decision is honestly quite bizarre, since Ice and Imaginary each only have one Nihility character. Ice-Nihility doesn't even have any 5-star.

While the reason for this will surely be revealed eventually, like how Blade SP would fit in the meta, how he adjusts to future new enemies, and how his element will dictate his best teammates, for now, Blade SP feels so disappointing.

Time will tell whether Blade SP will stay relevant

The original form of Blade was buffed just a few versions ago, but even with the boost, he's still not relevant enough to return to the meta tier list. While this likely won't happen on Mortenax Blade's release, there's no telling whether he will stay relevant in the meta for a long time or not.

Considering Ashveil's recent debut proves that HoYo is not giving up on male characters (Ashveil turns out to be a powerful DPS, and he'll likely hold up his place as a support/sub-DPS once the right main DPS is released), I have faith that they won't mess up Blade SP, especially since he's one of the fan favorites.

Mortenax Blade will be a part of Honkai: Star Rail 4.3, which will take a while to arrive, since we're not even in version 4.2 yet.
