Elation Silver Wolf Officially Introduced As Silver Wolf LV.999

We know that Silver Wolf is getting a new form in the Planarcadia chapter, but I didn't expect HoYo to be so lazy with her design.

There have been several SP (special/alternate) forms of characters in Honkai: Star Rail, but they have always been distinct. 

Dan Heng has his Imbibitor Lunae and Permansor Terrae forms, which greatly differ from the normal Dan Heng appearance (although the two arguably look similar). We also have Imaginary March 7th and Evernight, which also look different from the original March 7th. Even Sparxie and Sparkle feel different, despite being literally the same with alternate colors.

So when HoYoverse announces an SP of a fan-favorite character, Silver Wolf, the hype is real. Sadly, the reveal ends up quite disappointing.

There's so little change to her appearance that it feels more like a skin than a new character form. While the name they chose is a clever reference to one of the first events in HSR, I think we all can agree that "Silver Wolf LV.999" is quite a mouthful to say. It's a better name than "The Herta," at least.

Silver Wolf LV.999 is the third Elation character in Honkai: Star Rail

The original Silver Wolf is a Quantum-Nihility character. She specializes in debuffing the enemy and placing an element weakness, allowing DPS from any element to reduce the enemy's toughness.

Back then, I thought Silver Wolf would be a universal, timeless support, but HoYo manages to turn Silver Wolf's unique feature into something anyone can have. I mean, how come Anaxa can put all-elemental weakness to multiple enemies, while Silver Wolf struggles with one? The power creep is real.

I truly hope that Silver Wolf LV.999 will not meet the same fate as the original Silver Wolf.

Since Ashveil is already scheduled for version 4.1, Silver Wolf SP is likely debuting in HSR 4.2, which means there's still a lot of time to save for her.
