Warframe takes a turn into horror with The Shadowgrapher Update

This update may have the best trailer that Digital Extremes has made, and that is saying something

I hope you have been having a comfortable week so far, because Warframe is here to wreck it. Halloween comes early, with The Shadowgrapher bringing perhaps the scariest Warframe with Follie. Also, the game is now available on Nintendo Switch 2, which is all the coverage we will be giving Nintendo today.

Before we even get to the gameplay, let's just take a moment to praise the music. That trailer is spooky as hell, and “Drip”, Follie’s theme tune, is incredibly unsettling. I will always praise the music team at Digital Extremes, and they have delivered once again.

As all the ink might have suggested, Follie is based on the Rorschach inkblot tests. Her passive inks enemies, slowing them and causing them to drop health and energy orbs when defeated. Very helpful, however, my favorite move is certainly the one that causes all foes around to be held in the air with balloons. Follie is meant to be scary, but that is just hilarious.

See if you can outrun the invincible inky menace

The part of this update that I have been most excited for is Follie’s Hunt, a four vs one asymmetrical horror mode. Usually, I don’t like it when developers try to jump on a craze with their own modes, but I think Follie is perfect for this. They are basically the clown from IT if Pennywise had a bucket of ink.

Follie’s Hunt pits everyone against Follie, as you and your friends race to fill multiple canvases with paint. You will be hounded by inky enemies, and after finishing the first canvas, an invulnerable Follie will start stalking you. The more you complete, the stronger and faster they will become.

It will culminate in a hectic race to survive, and Warframe is at its best when the battles force you to embrace the fast-paced nature of the game. Plus, it is all free, so download Warframe from the App Store and Google Play, and embrace the ink.
