Warframes’ October devstream spills the details about upcoming fall update
Mushrooms!
If, for some unknown reason, you have yet to play Warframe, then I will let you off, because soon there will literally never be a better time to start. Another Devstream is in the books, giving us more information on upcoming Warframes, stories, and the new early game quest for starters, releasing on October 15th in The Vallis Undermind.
Appropriately dubbed The Teacher, it is a cinematic Quest co-developed with Sumo Digital. Its purpose is to teach us the ways of equipment modding, offering scenarios you can only pass with the proper setup. It is available after completing Vor’s Prize, the prologue basically, and will reward those who complete it with a Thornbak rifle.
With your mod knowledge up to scratch, you can dive into the underbelly of Fortuna in The Deepmines after completing the New War quest. It is fungus fun down here, with the mushroom-infested Solaran ready to greet you and have you solve all their problems. By completing bounties you will earn mushrooms for Nightcap’s Foraging Journal, which will, in turn, earn you Fergolyte. Feed this to The Prince, and they will share narrative Visions you can play to learn the history behind this new area, and the lore of our 62nd Warframe.

As you will no doubt expect, Nokko is a big ol' mushroom that the Fortuna residents describe as Yareli’s adoptive brother. You can throw poisonous mushrooms, grow mushrooms that boost ally defence, become an untargetable mushroom and heal really fast, or throw explosive mushrooms that bounce off whatever they hit. So basically, mushroom.
It is all mushrooms, as a fan favorite non-fungal Warframe is getting a tune-up. The mystic Oberon will receive a refined passive ability, better healing, and a strong Reckoning ability. Ever better, log in between October 15th and 21st, and you will get him for free.
Finally, on the Warframe side of things, a new protoframe. Brought to life by the voice actor of Emet-Selch of Final Fantasy XIV fame, René Zagger, we will get our first look at the Protoframe that will eventually evolve into Uriel, the demonic Warframe that will feature in The Devil’s Triad later this year. And might I say what a pleasure it is that I get to talk about Warframe and Final Fantasy XIV in one article.
Let’s round this off with some miscellaneous news. Lavos and Wukong will be getting some premium skins added to the Warframe Market, and there will be six extra designs courtesy of TennoGen in the form of Warframe skins, helmets, and a Syandana. Nights of Naberus will be back in time for Halloween with limited-time items, and you can dress up in Day of the Dead finery through Nightwave Vol 10. Last but certainly not least, Digital Extremes have join the Quest to Conquer Cancer for 2025, with cosmetics to unlock by hitting donation milestones. A good cause, and some new shinies.
Warframe is available to download from the App Store now.
