Tomb Raider I-III Remastered releases on mobile with free Challenge Mode update
I know a certain elderly butler who has long been overdue for a visit to the freezer
I am struggling to think of a series that has been rebooted more times than Tomb Raider. There is the original set, Crystal Dynamics first trilogy with Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld, and then their second go starting in 2013.
The 2013 Tomb Raider was released on mobile last month, but now we can experience where it all started, as the original Tomb Raider 1, 2, and 3 Remastered come to mobile. Even more, it comes with a free Challenge Mode update across all platforms, as if backflipping around a room whilst being chased by a giant T-Rex wasn’t enough of a challenge.
As I never tire of reminiscing about, Tomb Raider was my first PS1 game. I still remember the opening cinematics with the wolves, before getting that immediate jump scare with the bats. Speaking of, remember those old Lucozade crossover commercials? It never let me do gymnastics; it just tasted bad.

My heart yearns for that amazing quad bike track
Back on topic. You will be able to enjoy Lara Croft's iconic first three adventures wherever you are, including stepping on the Hand of Midas, locking Winston in a freezer, and zipping around Croft Manor's racetrack on a Quad Bike. Plus all the epic gunslinging, parkour bouncing, treasure snatching capors, of course. If you are sitting there smugly going “it may have been 30 years, but I can still raid those tombs with no bother”, then prepare to be shocked! As mentioned above, you can now undertake these expeditions on Challenge Mode. This lets you crank up the difficulty by modifying the likes of health, damage, enemies, and more.
Keep turning up the pressure, and you will be able to unlock more and more rewards. These include achievements, because we all love that dopamine hit when they pop up, and ten new outfits. They confer special upgrades and abilities, but if you have just beaten the game with every modifier on, do you really need them?
Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is available to purchase for $14.99 on the App Store and Google Play, a steal for these iconic masterpieces.
