Pokémon GO is making having friends finally worthwhile with Weekly Challenges

One of the best parts of Pokémon GO is the multiplayer aspects, making friends and getting closer through the wonders of Eevee. But, sometimes you aren’t in the same place as everyone to play together. Well, The Pokémon Company is looking to add more social aspects to the game, with the announced Weekly Challenges.

Starting October 12th, you will be able to access this feature through the new Social tab on the Trainer profile. By hitting Party Play, You can join or create groups to work together and accomplish goals. These groups can hold up to four players, who can be situated anywhere in the world.

The only thing to bear in mind here is that you can only be part of one group at a time. So, if your friend group contains five or more, then you are in for some awkward conversations. Or, some very high-stakes Pokémon battles. Anyway, invites expire in 24 hours so don’t miss out, spots will be apparently scarce.

These challenges reset at 17:00 each Sunday, and will involve things like spinning 250 PokéStops. Sounds like a lot for four people who work all week, so hopefully you get some milestone prizes. Should you manage to succeed, then you will get rewarded with the likes of XP and Stardust.

In addition to this, you will also get Friendship level progress with people in your group, and that is the biggest thing for me personally. Getting to a higher level with your friends unlocks a few benefits, but the best part is an increased chance at a lucky trade. I think that alone makes finding a group worthwhile.

Even better, doing that will be even easier later this year. The Pokémon Team has stated they will be offering matchmaking to group up with Trainers you might not know yet. So if your mates aren’t Trainers, you won’t be missing out for long.
