Monster Hunter Now introduces one of the most ferocious Elder Dragons for Autumn Hunt
I hope they nerfed Malzeno because if not this will be a nightmare
Halloween may be over, but true terror has befallen Monster Hunter Now for its Autumn Hunt as elder dragon Malzeno has descended. First released in Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, they are a genuine menace to society, so you will need to bring your A-game to vanquish this foe.
They will land on November 20th, and instantly start wrecking your face with the Bloodblight status. What this does is drain your health, and reduces its recovery through natural and item means. On the flip side, you do gain HP as you attack enemies. This is how it works in Sunbreak, theres not yet confirmation it will function like this in Now.
Another tool Malzeno is packing is the Quiro, which drains your health. Also, once under half health, they whip out frenzied combos and increased movement speed, so in this state, you want to immediately attack the glowing red zones to snap it back to normal. Survive, and you will be able to craft some new weapons and armor.

The armor has two interesting skills. First is Malzeno Crimsonblood, which reduces damage you receive from dragon element monsters, whilst increasing your own dragon element value. Great for fighting dragons, obviously. Second is Blood Cloak. This infects the user with Bloodblight upon the start of a battle or when a foe receives enough damage.
Sounds like a detriment, however, much like the status, the skill has benefits. When infected for the first time, your health increases, and while under its effect, your attack power increases. A real high-cost, high-reward type of playstyle if you are brave and aggressive enough.
Outside of Malzeno, between November 17th and 23rd, you will benefit from more rewards from group hunts and Hunt-a-thons, and will find more dimensionally linked monsters. You can also run into Deviljho out in the wild. Speaking of, take advantage of the time-limited quests to slay both them and Glavenus to craft equipment for your showdown with the Malzeno. It always circles back to this nightmare.
Monster Hunter Now is available from the App Store and Google Play.
