I firmly believe that I learnt a lot more about different cultures from video games than I ever did at school. I know a little about a lot of areas mythologies, and old heroes, but one that I don’t know much about is Korea. Well, Black Desert Mobile is fixing to change that, with an update to the Korean-inspired Land of the Morning Light: Seoul expansion.

The expansion is inspired by the Joseon dynasty, and that is the extent of my knowledge on this particular period. This update adds the tales of Bihyng, the blue-clad Youth, Tale of Deofong, and the Tale of Janghwa and Hongreyeon. They are based on traditional Korean folklore, a delightful way to learn more about history.

If you manage to complete them all, you will unlock five Bonus Tales, including one that delves into the life of Yeonhwa and their relationship with the royal family. For those who have followed all the Tales, this update is the final chapter of the Land of the Morning Light saga, and will wrap up all the story threads in a neat little bow. Although not before beating you through the ground one last time.

There are new Black Shrine Bosses to test your mettle against, including Bihyung in Dungryong Cave, being used as a ping pong ball by Janghwa and Hongryeon in the Flower-sunken Swamp, or tackling Jigwi in Motgol Village. For a real challenge, you can take on Samsin, Bulgasal, and Uturi in Calamity 6 difficulty.

Whilst this story might be wrapping up, there is a lot to look forward to, which you can learn all about with the 2025 Calpheon Ball. Taking place December 13th, you can watch the event on the official Black Desert Mobile YouTube Channel, with Pearl Abyss laying out future updates and celebrating the past.

Black Desert Mobile is available from the App Store and Google Play.
