Genshin Impact's Snezhnaya has an official release date
Sounds bittersweet, but Genshin probably already has something planned after this final Teyvat region.
Genshin Impact 1.0 was released in September 2020. The game debuted with two major regions, Mondstadt and Liyue. In Mondstadt, we get a taste of freedom and uncertainty, while in Liyue, things are stricter yet more structured. These two regions are governed by the distinct concepts of their Archons, and as players explore more of Teyvat, they will get a taste of different themes.
In Mondstadt, you may remember that scene where La Signora forcefully takes Venti's Gnosis. Here, we learn more about Snezhnaya, the Fatui, and the Tsaritsa. For the years to come, you may visit various places in Teyvat, while the mystery of Snezhnaya slowly increases.
Snezhnaya is not only one of the seven nations in Teyvat, but it's also meant to be the final region you visit. This is why the release of Snezhnaya is a momentous occasion, since first-day players have been waiting for around six years for it.
The region will culminate the plotlines and reveal the Tsaritsa's agenda and why she has been collecting the Gnoses (which she has six of by now). The region takes inspiration from the Slavic countries, including its music and snowy terrains.

Snezhnaya release date in Genshin Impact
Snezhnaya will debut in Genshin Impact on August 12, 2026 (or August 11 if you're in the American time zone). This means that the update will be after Genshin Impact Luna VIII (version 6.7).For reference, here are the expected end times for the current and upcoming versions:
- Genshin Impact Luna VI (version 6.5): May 19/May 20
- Genshin Impact Luna VII (version 6.6): June 30/July 1
- Genshin Impact Luna VIII (version 6.7): August 11/August 12
This matches the pattern where a new region always comes after the summer island filler, which should be in version 6.7.
The livestream also comes with a redeem code: Snezhnaya20260812. Which can be exchanged for 200 Primogems, if you redeem it before 12:00 AM on April 27, 2026 (UTC-4).
