Paimon vs Duo: who is the most annoying?

It is no secret that if you want people to get into boring things like exercise or language learning, then you need to gamify it. Duolingo is looking to learn a little more into that tactic with a collaboration with Genshin Impact, a team-up that I am sure was on no one's bingo card for 2025.

Now, let’s get the bad news out of the way; this is not bringing Duo into the world of Teyvat. So, we will be unable to watch that green personification of annoyance get his beak kicked up relentlessly. Instead, Genshin's own avatar of frustration, Paimon, is heading to the Duolingo app.

Our floating emergency food, a joke that is ran into the ground in Genshin Impact, will be making the trip alongside Tighnari and Cyno, both noted scholars. Until December 27th, this trio will take over Duo’s job in the 3-Day Streak Quest in Duolingo, to try and get us all into learning that second language finally. That is a skill I genuinely wish that I possessed.

The way this event works is pretty simple. You need to complete one unit lesson per day for three consecutive days, and that is it. This is available in any course you desire, so there is nothing stopping you from reaping the rewards, and that reward is a sculpture of Paimon and Duo. Hurray. You will get pop-ups from Cyno and Tighnari, though, which could be nice.

Luckily, however, the biggest rewards are to be found in Genshin Impact, as one would hope. Complete this mission and head to the Shop in Duolingo, and you will find yourself a redemption code. Trot over to Genshin Impact and enter this to earn the Diligent Study avatar, the Celebration: Dream Reader namecard, and a Sumeru-style dish "Spiced Fried Chicken" along with its recipe.

You will need to act fast, though, as the code will leave Duolingo on December 30th, and it will expire January 31st, so keep both dates in mind.

Genshin Impact is available from the App Store and Google Play. Unfortunately, you will need to infect your phone with that loathsome owl and grab Duolingo from the App Store and Google Play too.
