Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy adds two new characters to its roster
You may expect me to complain that neither is Squall, and you would be right, I am
Square Enix is finally taking its revenge for all the many, many, many times I have taken shots at them. Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy has added two new characters, and neither of them is my beloved Squall. Instead, Final Fantasy II and Final Fantasy XII will be getting their representation.
If you have yet to try out Dissidia Duellum, it is a real-time action arena fighter in the vein of the Dissidia spin-offs. You fling spells, swing swords, and try to fell the target creature, all while another team tries to beat you to it. Also, you are in modern-day Tokyo, so if you ever wanted to see your favorite character in streetwear, you are in luck.
Firion and Balthier join Dissidia Duellum
While some series have had some interesting picks, such as Final Fantasy X sending Rikku, or Final Fantasy XIV sending Gaia of all characters, Final Fantasy II and XII have gone pretty basic. Firion will be joining from the second game in the esteemed series, whereas Balthier will be playing the leading man from XII.
You may be thinking, “What about Vaan?" And the answer to that is, he is basically irrelevant to the plot of the game. So, he gets thrown from the highest airship, and we can Balthier. He is a ranged hero, capable of picking off foes with powerful shots. His unique ability is Great Aim, a conal attack, which doesn’t sound ideal for someone who should be away from foes.
If you prefer getting into your opponent's face, you can turn to Firion. This melee hero can restore his HP by 20% of damage dealt by abilities, perfect for keeping him in the fray. His Straightarrow's unique ability also grants him a ranged attack, so you can always keep your foes guessing.
Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
