Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy is baiting chaos with the release of Sephiroth

If you played Final Fantasy 7, then you will remember that spectacular soundtrack. It's hard to pick the “best”, but One-Winged Angel is definitely up there. And now it is time to pump up the music and polish off your Latin, because Sephiroth is coming to Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy on May 26th. 

Now, those who are aware of Sephiroth know that he is a swordsman of unparalleled skill. So, you would expect him to be a Melee character. But no, he is, in fact, a Ranged character. I suppose destroying the Earth with a Meteor might count as a ranged kill.

Hold that thought, however. Sephiroth still uses his fabled sword, the Masamune; however, as you may notice, it is absolutely massive, which is presumably why he is classed as Ranged. Because you can't come within ten feet without being stabbed. It is an ingenious solution.

Why can't I summon Meteor to squish people? 

Unfortunately, his Unique Ability is called Scintilla, which allows you to be a conal counterattack. Of all his brilliant skills in Final Fantasy 7, he gets a simple counterattack. A travesty. Having said that, his One-Winged Angel Passive gives him a movement speed boost when he is near Cloud. That is rather funny, poor Cloud. 

To unlock the scourge of Midgar, you need to focus on the Normal Season Reward track. Here you can also find Memoria, a new piece of equipment that can boost your stats. By now, you should have been able to pick a favourite character. Well, all players will be gifted an Ability Select Draw, which grants a full ability set for one of the first 16 characters.

And having mentioned characters, we have received a roadmap for upcoming releases. June will bring a Final Fantasy 10 character and a new boss, whilst July will bring in one of the massive cast of Final Fantasy 6. I am hoping for Locke. Then, August 2026 will have yet another new boss, and a Final Fantasy 5 character. 

So three more, Squall-less months. I shant download this game until this broody boy is available. But that is my dramatic reaction. Those without this level of overreaction can download Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy from the App Store and Google Play.
