Smack your friends around a little with the new 1v1 Arena

Albion Online launches the Radiant Wilds update to tweak a few systems

No doubt to prepare for its Xbox launch later this month, Albion Online has launched the Radiant Wilds update. This is quite an extensive overhaul that addresses visuals, performance, and more. Much like the recent upgrades done by RuneScape, these will retain the distinct visual style of Albion, just making it a little prettier.

To start with, each biome in Albion has received a bit of a tune-up with improved lighting, texture, water graphics, and biome-specific environmental effects. So if you wanted to take a dip in a lake at dawn, this should be right up your street.

However, you can’t swim in Albion, so that might be a hurdle too far.

Albion Online gets technical and performance upgrades... Magic hammers!

It's not just the aesthetics getting an update. By popular demand, the boffins at Sandbox Interactive have been cracking those cogs and gears with hammers to deliver technical and performance improvements. In particular, large-scale battles will be noticeably smoother. All without a need for better system specs.

Controller fans will benefit from some enhanced support. These changes will improve the overall UI and combat navigation. Whilst you can enjoy this game with touch controls, sometimes a controller makes everything better, so this is excellent news.

Now, Albion is a massive game, so it might be daunting getting your feet set. Well, here enters The Armory. This feature uses player data to recommend builds for different game modes, so you know where to start. Honkai: Star Rail does this with gear sets, and it is pretty helpful, so it is nice to see it here.

With your correctly geared armour set in hand, and in leg and on head etc, it is time to hop over to the Arena. You can now partake in a 1v1 Arena to get your eye in and practise some PvP. You won’t lose your gear, so you can try all your experimental builds out here.

Dual swords and a mage's robe, here I come.

Albion Online is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
