I am getting Little Nightmare and Limbo vibes, and I love it

If you are a fan of creepy games, then you are in luck, because Silt is out now on mobile. And I mean creepy in the most delightful sense because this game looks amazing, just not if you have a fear of the deep sea. Or watery abominations that will happily eat you whole.

You take on the role of what I assume is a diver, if not some unholy apparition in a wetsuit. This being is shackled by a chain, fathoms under the water, which is probably a bad sign.

Players are immediately introduced to what will be a key mechanic to this game: possessing fish to do your bidding. You start with a piranha that breaks your binding, and then you are unleashed on all the other denizens of the sea.

The art style is definitely doing a lot of heavy lifting for me. It is Limbo if Tim Burton were the designer. It is a 2D adventure with a monochromatic palette, where every creature just looks wrong, in the best way. Even your diver, whenever you move. The feet have a rather unnerving floppiness to them when you kick.

Your goal is to take control of the wildlife to complete puzzles and presumably fulfil the stated goal on the start screen: stealing the eyes of Goliaths and taking them to a great machine. It is a title that is almost all atmosphere, and I honestly can’t wait to try it myself. For a debut game from a studio, Spiral Circus in this case, it looks very impressive.

Luckily, you don’t need to take my word for it. Silt features a free demo section that you can try out before committing to the full experience. So, you have nothing to lose, except a few sleepless nights perhaps.
