Warframe: 1999 finally drops after the most painful build-up known to mankind
In what has been one of the longest, built-up, frustrating run-ups to an update release, Warframe: 1999 is finally available to enjoy. We have had webcomics, music, animations, and a whole Tennocon full of teasers, and now we can actually sit down, and dive into Höllvania fully.
To celebrate 1999’s launch, there is a collaboration between Warframe and Game of the Year Balatro nominee kicking off now. That’s if you believe The Game Awards, they are clearly rigged; there is no way Wuthering Waves, Final Fantasy XIV, or Warframe itself won nothing. Anyway, you can slap Excalibur, Mag, and Volt over the King, Queen, and Jack cards in Balatro now,
1999 will take you to Höllvania as you bond with The Hex whilst taking down the Scaldra army and the Techrot infestation. You will need to find the man behind it all, Dr Entrati before the clock hits midnight. You will experience this story in high audio quality, thanks to prolific voice actors like Neil Newbon, Nick Apostolides, Ben Starr, and Alpha Takahashi.
These actors will also add a lot of depth to the new romance and relationship system. You can instant message members of the Hex to learn their backstories, forge a strong alliance, and maybe even advance it further. Of course with the new Gemini skin, you could romance the characters as themselves, which would be odd but slightly amusing.
There are four new mission types to enjoy, including the first PvPvE game type; Faceoff. Here, two teams of four will compete in an objective-based relay race, or you can assist Kalymos in their hunt with Legacyte Harvest. Hell-Scrub will see you protecting the eponymous workers as they clean Höllvania, or you can enjoy an action-packed boss battle in the H-09 Efervon Tank Assassination.
You can enjoy all this new content with the 59th Wardame, Cyte-09. His tactical loadout lets you see and shoot enemies through walls, stalk the battlefield with cloaking tech, and augment your own and allies' guns with elemental ammo. Finally, summon the Exalted sniper rifle to really punch through your opponents.
