The massive Lineage franchise expands its grip on the mobile market with the release of Journey of Monarch

Lineage is one of those series that I have heard a lot about but never really tried, which is ridiculous. The franchise as a whole is astronomically popular, being one of the highest-grossing of all time. Now, NC America is set to expand this empire, with the release of Journey of Monarch.

It is released on both PC and mobile, complete with crossplay, but it feels like it will be more at home on your phone. This is because Journey of Monarch is a free idle MMORPG, so you always want to have access to it to set your virtual hero off on a variety of quests. Quest might be the wrong word, as from what the title no doubt tells you, you are nobility here.

You take the reigns of the world of Aden, gathering a party of up to eight heroes as you explore the land. These brave warriors are plucked from Lineage games of the past and come in several flavours. Defender, Melee, Ranged, and Mage are your core types, along with elements like Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Neutral.

Along your journey you will need to manage your team's equipment, gearing them up with the latest loot and upgrades you find. Loadouts can also be augmented with magic dolls, command skills, weapons, and costumes. The true endgame of all MMORPGs is fashion after all. Your monarch's appearance can be customised to your heart's content, but even more importantly, so can your mounts.

Out in the open world, you will engage in massive battles against a variety of fierce foes, but the most dangerous fights will happen in the arena. It is not open just yet, but in a future update that is stated to be happening soon, you can scrap with other players in one-on-one duels. PvE or PvP, whatever you choose, you will have fun.
