Spider-Ham is coming to Marvel Contest of Champions
Marvel Contest of Champions is getting a new character added to its growing roster of masked superheroes. This time it’s Spider-Ham, also going by the name of Peter Porker, who will be joining the game later this month.
Originally created for the Marvel Comics series in 1983, Spider-Ham is an anthropomorphic animal character which served as a parody of Spider-Man, however he didn’t really hit mainstream appeal until he was a major character voiced by American comedian John Mulaney in the 2018 film Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse.
Spider-Ham will appear in Marvel Contest of Champions later this month and is voice yet again by Mulaney himself. You can watch his game debut below as a motion comic created specifically for the game, titled “Back on the Air”.
The content will also come with a “John Mulaney’s Champion Challenge” mission where the comedian himself has picked out a team of super heroes and villains for you to defeat. Beating the challenge results in some juicy rewards you can later use in other rounds.
For new players who download Marvel Contest of Champions between 7th December and 31st December, there will also be a bonus which’ll allow them to receive a free two-star Spider-Ham character. For the comic collectors out there, a free version of Spider-Ham #1 from 1983 is also being given away throughout the whole month of December, so that might be worth checking out if you’re a big fan of reading comic books and graphic novels about superheroes.
Besides the Spider-Ham content, there are also small improvements such as bug fixes and quality of life changes added to the game with each update, so it’s worth checking the website to receive the full breakdown of what’s being changed.
You can download Marvel Contest of Champions from the iOS App Store or Google Play for Android. It’s a free to play title containing in-app purchases.
