Lavaskull's 3v3 car-based football game, Soccer Rally: Arena, has now soft-launched in the US. It's been a long time coming, with the original Soccer Rally launching all the way back in 2012. News of the soft launch was first reported on by Touch Arcade.

While many have been clamouring for a Rocket League mobile port, this could well be the next best thing. For starters, it offers full cross-platform play between iOS and Android, which is always very much appreciated.

It's also designed from the ground up for mobile devices, offering easy-to-learn touchscreen controls and a less chaotic top-down perspective. In theory, this should give you a much clearer view of the action, perhaps opening up additional avenues of tactical play.

The all-new multiplayer gameplay is definitely the big draw here, and it's something that should help launch the series towards greater popularity. These sorts of games are always going to be better played against real players, there's no denying that.

As you progress, you'll continue to expand your garage with new cars. They all have their own unique stats that you'll have to keep an eye on, including top speed, acceleration, boost, and overall handling.

Lavaskull is yet to announce a global launch date for this one, though today's US soft-launch is perhaps a sign that it isn't too far off. You'll find Soccer Rally: Arena available for download now as a free-to-play title from both the App Store and Google Play.
