Fans of Norse mythology, which is surely everyone, can rejoice as Viking flavoured survival game Niffelheim is added to the Google Play Pass. Along with the many other games on the Pass, you can now strike out into the frozen tundra and fight your way to Valhalla.

Niffelheim places you in the worn boots of a proud Viking warrior who has perished in battle. What should be a grand occasion for our fierce fighter to stride towards to gates of Valhalla quickly goes south, quite literally, as we find ourselves instead in the land of Niffelheim, presumably based on the Norse realms of Hel. You must now travel through this frozen, treacherous land and find your way to the grand hall itself. Originally released on Steam, Niffelheim was also a game that was going to work better on a mobile device, with its side-scrolling nature and somewhat simplistic gameplay, and given the reviews, it has on Google Play, it did. The game combines elements of survival, exploration and combat to give you a deeply engaging experience, and a unique one thanks to the procedurally generated world.

You will be tasked with gathering your own resources to craft your equipment, from simple tools to powerful weapons. You are alone in a frozen wasteland after all, unless you call your friends for some good old-fashioned co-op adventures. You can kit yourself out with bows, swords, and the good old Viking axe, and even lug around a cannon for those more pesky enemies. After your hard-won battles, return to your settlement, complete with your own hand-built castle.

To get access to Niffelheim, alongside hundreds of other games and apps to overload your Androids memory, sign up for Google Play Pass today. It will cost you $4.99 a month, or if you have it, pay $29.99 for the full year and enjoy one hell of a saving.
