Thanks to a recent announcement by the Esports World Cup Foundation, as well as mobile developers MOONTON Games, we have learned that the first confirmed title in the inaugural Esport World Cup, taking place this summer, will be the rather well-received MOBA Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
The Esports World Cup is a rather ambitious upcoming event taking place across a giant eight weeks in the heart of Riyadh. The aim is quite simple, showcase the best and the brightest of competitive mobile gameplay by bringing all the top games together in one festival of mindblowing proportions, and let’s hope it comes to fruition
Mobile Legends are the first to cement their name on this future all-star roster, committing their Mid-Season Cup for this year, and more to come. Teams from over 35 countries will be taking part to win a piece of the biggest prize pot in Bang Bangs’ history. There are over 110 million monthly active players of Mobile Legends, quite a number to start your tournament audience on.
On landing Mobile Legends, the Esports World Cup Foundations VEO, Ralf Reichert, said:“We’re thrilled to welcome MOONTON Games as the first game developer joining the Esports World Cup with their leading title, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang”
“With one of the world’s most popular and watched mobile esports participating in our unique cross-club competition, we’re set to welcome millions of fans to the Esports World Cup platform - a place of celebration of video games and gaming culture, where the best players are recognized as competitive and cultural icons of the world’s fastest-growing sport.”
MOONTON also commented on the partnership, with their Managing Director of Global Esports, Lucas Mao, saying:“Esports World Cup will elevate our presence in bringing Mobile Legends: Bang Bang to our millions of fans and new audiences, including those watching live in Riyadh and onscreen around the world.”
“We’re excited to be a part of this first-of-its-kind event this year and in the years to come as we strengthen ties with Mobile Legends: Bang Bang’s community in key regions such as Europe, the Americas, and the Middle East.”
