Hasbro and Scopely announce global launch for Monopoly Go

Despite being around for more than 85 years, Monopoly is still one of the world's most popular and well-known board games and a leading contributor to game night spats. Now, the property-buying fun has evolved and is heading to mobile devices in Monopoly Go!

Monopoly Go keeps all the trimming that made the original so iconic, there would be riots otherwise. You select your piece from such classics as the Racecar, Top Hat and Battleship, then roll the dice to head around the board, buying as many properties as possible, building houses, and trying to avoid jail. This iteration of the series is one of the more interactive and engaging entries that there has been, with the worlds you play featuring rich scenery and lively animations. You will play alongside other budding property moguls around the world, and meet new characters such as the entrepreneurial banker Benjamin Basu or skilled appraiser Sofia Wattsitworth.

In a bid to be more captivating, there have been a few changes tacked on. There are mini-games such as Community Chest, which encourage players to complete tasks together to earn money and rewards. You can also get involved with the sticker albums, collecting and trading them amongst the community through the Stricker Trading Group.

The Monopoly board game has a rather, shall we say, infamous reputation as a pastime that occasionally rules in a family tantrum and pieces flying everywhere, and Monopoly Go will not be improving this! You have the ability to rob your opponent's bank, or even destroy their landmarks in order to get ahead, which sounds pretty fun.
