Enter the city of spectacle as Fontaine opens its doors in Genshin Impact
With all the hype surrounding Honkai: Star Rail since its release, you might have forgotten that HoYoverse is still forging ahead with its hit action RPG Genshin Impact. Version 40. Launches August 16th, and will grant players access to a new land of mystery; Fontaine.
Travellers will be able to step into Fontaine, a centre of culture and art, and the so-called Nation of Justice, although if you take a look at the trailer, it appears the people care more for the pomp and ceremony than the law. A stance that appears to sit the wrong way with Tartaglia, making his appearance towards the end. In order to enter this weird and wonderful new world, you will need to complete Mondstadt’s Archon Quest Prologue Act III Song of the Dragon and Freedom, to unlock a Teleport Waypoint. If you haven’t you can poke around the city, but you won’t be able to pay through the Archon Quests if you haven’t completed Sumerus’ arc first.

Debuting in this update is the boisterous Pyro magician Lyney, and his sister and much more lowkey assistant Lynette, an Anemo sword wielder. These will be available to try to recruit from their own banner when Version 4.0 launches. Rounding out the new recruits is the Cryo Claymore-wielding Freminet, a somewhat surprising addition who doesn’t appear to have much significance in the story, but we may be in for a surprise.
Finally, there is no doubt that the nation of Fontaine will be as beautiful as the rest of Genshin Impact, and if you are lucky enough to be in New York, Paris, Taipei, or Tokyo on August 19th, you can be one of the first to check out the new Genshin Impact Game Art Exhibition; Endless Adventure in Teyvat: Fontaine Edition. What’s best is, entry is free.
Genshin Impact is available to download now from the App Store and Google Play.
