Ancient Awakening launches today in Runescape bringing a new Necromancy storyline
After two months of mastering rituals and summoning some undead backup dancers with the new combat system, it is time for the first major update in RuneScapes Necromancy season. Ancient Awakening lands today, complete with a new combat activity, new story, and a place to whip up some potiony goodness.
You will be joined in this adventure by such fearsome warriors as The Raptor, Asther the butler, and of course the one and only Bill, the architect from the previous Fort Forinthry season. With this dependable bunch at your side, you will investigate a powerful ritual that could spell disaster for Gielinor. The ritual is headed by Zemouregal, the deadly Zamorakian necromancer Mahjarrat, and with a foe like this popping up it won’t surprise anyone that a massive new boss battle will land in November. The big Z will also play a part in the new player vs monster combat activity, where you will test your necromantic combat skills against wave after wave of their minions.

Each run of this new Ungael Arena will present unique challenges thanks to a system that changes each time, for an added layer of fun. Manage to complete the whole encounter however, and you will get yourself some new titles, new weapon cosmetics, and most importantly, a copy of The Raptor’s outfit, because after this underworld adventure you two are besties now.
To give you a fighting chance, Ancient Awakening will also bring an expansion to Fort Forinthry. The Botanist’s Bench is available to construct which will help you craft Necromancy potions to give you the upper hand. You will also get a helper in the form of Granny Rowan, who can assist you as you brew, or simply give you some company,
