An iconic strategy series will be coming to the palm of your hand with Age of Empires Mobile

Back in my adolescence, more years ago than I care to admit nowadays, I was enamoured with a little strategy game called Age of Empires 2, howdoyouturnthison amirite? It was and has remained, an iconic entry in the series, and soon we can enjoy this strategy staple on the go with Age of Empire Mobile.

Many hands will be involved with this project, with TiMi Studio Group, World’s Edge, and the team behind the Age of Empire franchise all working together. We got our first teaser of the title in a recent showcase event, along with an announcement that testing will begin soon.

Of course, the caveat with these announcements. Tests will take place in North and South America, MENA, Southeast Asia, and Europe, quite the broad net. Lucky testers will be able to take part in the game’s multiplayer action based on the legendary PC series, with base building and real-time strategy.

Teams will be built around noteworthy historical leaders such as King Arthur, Joan of Arc and Julius Caesar, each with their own skills and talents you will need to master to unlock the synergy between squads. The game will unfold on a persistent battlefield, which is a little worrying. These always get overrun by the so-called whales who sink tons of money to overtake free players waiting a month for one building upgrade. Let’s hope for a miracle to change that this time.

Pre-registration is well underway, passing the 500k milestone in their campaign, unlocking resources and speed-up items for all involved. One million will unlock, Legendary Arrival Recruitment Tokens and Empire Coins, two million will have a Special Frame, and the fabled three million will bring Cleopatra VII as a free hero.
