Airland Studios, a studio focused on empowering modders, has announced its upcoming sandbox game creation platform Airland World. With early access launching this year, and a full, free to play version coming 2024, you will soon be able to create your own games for all platforms, including Android and iOS devices.

Airland World will offer creators a huge range of creation tools, built using LUAU or C++ scripting. You will have access to realistically simulated vehicles, an array of traversal options including swimming and skydiving, an armory of weapons, and much more. You can even create large-scale multiplayer maps for players to compete or cooperate on. There are two very interesting aspects to these tools, starting with Airland Worlds' fully procedural, AI-generated replica of planet Earth. Developed in collaboration with WindRealm Inc, who provides global simulation environments for professional simulations, this replica will hopefully give games made on its more immersive, real-feeling world.

Second of all, creators who use Airland World will be able to easily share their games with millions of players worldwide, but more importantly, they will be able to monetize their games if they choose. These can be exported to third-party storefronts or sold directly on Airland Studios own store, which is a wonderful way to keep the power in creators hands.

This type of game plays very well into the hands of Airland Studios CEO Fred Maar, a man who has spent many years in the modding community, personall developing popular helicopter mods for flight simulators, giving the team a good base to launch the game.

Airland Studios will be present at the 2023 GDC to show off Airland World and Helicopter Rescue Team, developed from the Airland Worlds tool, so it is possible we will see a bit more coming from the team's YouTube channel soon.
