Marvel Mystic Mayhem folds after just half a year of life

For a rather prolonged period of time, Marvel had a stranglehold on the populace. At least, in the movies. In gaming, it has always been a different story. For every Marvel Rivals, there have been a Marvel Avengers. I quite liked that, to be honest, but it makes my point.

And soon, Marvel Mystic Mayhem will be added to the scrapheap.

If that name is not familiar to you, then that would be part of the problem. It is - soon to be was - a tactical RPG with a rather interesting art style, that released in June of 2025. I had to confirm that date multiple times to be sure.

It has been pronounced dead after about half a year of being active.

Part of this has to be down to marketing. Even around the launch date, there was barely any noise being made about the game. And then, pretty much nothing since then. Even without this hurdle, I don’t think the gameplay was well thought out. It was basically a faster Marvel Midnight Suns, another game I really liked that was received terribly. 

All that aside, let’s look at the announcement. There will be no more content development starting 2026/04/01, which, if my skills at reading terrible date formats are up to scratch, means April 1st. Maybe this will all turn out to be a joke. The good news is the game servers will still remain active for those who want to wring out a bit more gameplay.

The bad news is that Mystic Mayhem will be living under the Sword of Damocles from then on. There is no officially announced closure date. Just a promise that there will be at least a 60-day notice before termination. It is a sad end to a game that wasn’t given much of a chance, but at least we still have Marvel Strike Force.
