MapleStory: Idle RPG celebrates its half-year anniversary with a pirate party

Some people are massively into their birthdays; they go all out. Why not? It only comes once a year. Unless you are a mobile game developer. In that case, every single milestone is an anniversary. Take MapleStory: Idle RPG, which is having a party for its half-year anniversary. At least this one has pirates, I suppose.

And that is where we shall start, because pirates are awesome. There are two new Pirate-class jobs available in the Buccaneer and the Corsair. The Buccaneer relies on their fists, which might sound quite unusual for a pirate. That is, until you find out they summon a Sea Serpent with every punch to deal a huge range of damage.

Our next job is the Corsair, a character who embodies the pirate captain mindset. They have a hat, a few guns, and they summon their crew to whip out screen-filling special attacks. A spectacular show, but on balance, I'll pick the guy with a Sea Serpent in their fists.

After mastering your new class, you can try out your skills in the Horntail boss raid for a chance to earn new equipment. There is also the Horntail Destroyer medal that adds 10% Boss Monster Damage.  However, you can only get this by beating Horntail Very Horn five times, so good luck there.

If you are looking for a less violent time, try out the Flag Race. This is available up until June 10th, and is a straight race to the finish line. If you don’t get there within 10 seconds of the first finisher, then it won’t count as completed. So, no dragging your feet. Winning and taking part will both earn Festival Coins. More coins mean more prizes.
