Horizon Steel Frontiers is delivering the robot-hunting fun in a mobile MMORPG

Do you remember Horizon? The series that was published by Sony and was originally exclusive to PlayStation? Well, there will be a new MMORPG set in the Horizon universe, named Horizon Steel Frontiers, and as you may have well guessed, it will be released on mobile.

It might be the most surprising thing from G-Star this year.

Yes, NCSOFT took to the spotlight in Korea and announced Horizon Steel Frontiers will be a cross-platform game between Mobile and PC. Microsoft is getting closer to this Horizon title than Sony. When they release their console-come-PC, Xbox will have a Horizon game that PlayStation doesn’t. How the tides change.

Anyway, we like mobile here, so let’s put aside the console wars. Horizon Steel Frontiers is a collaboration effort between NCSOFT and the original developers, Guerrilla Games. In it, you will head out into the Deadlines and take part in the electrical monster hunter that made Aloy a much beloved hero.

Having mentioned her, Aloy will be taking a back seat here, as you will be able to create your own character to take down the metal menace with. You will be able to dart around the world thanks to a rather handy grappling hook, which can be used to grapple yourself onto enemies in an incredibly fun, cinematic way.

During fights, you will be whipping off fast-paced combos, performing dodges and combos, and finding yourself gassed in the middle of combat thanks to one of those infernal stamina wheels. At least, by virtue of it being an MMORPG, you will be able to team up with friends to explore the wilderness with, and send those hulking great monstrosities to the scrap heap.
