Elation is a new Path in Honkai: Star Rail 4.0, and it will revolve around new terms such as Punchline and Elation DMG. The version begins with two female characters, Yao Guang and Sparxie. However, what follows in HSR 4.1 is not an Elation character, and of course, it's a male character.

This treatment is not new, since back in version 3+, all premium Remembrance characters are female, namely Castorice, Evernight, Aglaea, Cyrene, and Hyacine.

Meanwhile, the male characters are all non-Remembrance, like Anaxa, Phainon, Mydei, and Permansor Terrae.

Of course, this is not to say that Ashveil doesn't have the potential to be a meta character. Anaxa and Phainon are still one of the best DPS as of now, and Sunday has been an S-Tier support from back when he was released in version 2.7, which is a crazy amount of time for someone to stay on top of the tier list.

However, the lack of the Elation attribute means that Ashveil may not be an enabler for Punchline gameplay. The Hunt characters are usually a DPS too, further taking him away from the upcoming Elation meta.

Thankfully, there's still a chance that he can be a supportive Hunt unit, similar to characters like Topaz, Moze, and Imaginary March 7th. In this case, Ashveil may just be the new support/sub-DPS character, matching notable names such as Tribbie and Cipher.

Ashveil design is a little too similar to Boothill's vibe

Similar hat, similar hair, similar color scheme, similar style... one might even mistake Ashveil as another form of Boothill. That is, if we ignore the fact that Boothill is half cyborg.

In terms of design, Ashveil lacks the originality that Yao Guang provides. I can only hope that he won't get the Boothill treatment, where he was only relevant as a Break DPS for basically one version, before getting pushed down the list of viable DPS.

As of now, Ashveil should be a part of the beta test, and nothing would be certain until his kit is officially revealed in the 4.1 livestream. Since both Yao Guang and Sparxie's banners will still be available by the time the 4.1 livestream airs, you can even save your Stellar Jade to assess his potential first.

Don't forget that Honkai: Star Rail 4.0 is coming soon on February 12, 2026, or February 13, 2026, based on your time zone.
