Honkai: Star Rail reveals Version 4.0 and it hurts my aged soul

Do you remember the moon from Zelda: Majora's Mask? It was big and unsettling. Well, Honkai: Star Rail has won second place in the Worst Moon in Gaming contest. Version 4.0, No Aha at Full Moon launching February 13th, features what I can only describe as what happens if you launch a frat boy into space.

Trailblazer will head to Duomension City, a land that has truly brought them into the Elation path. Visitors and citizens compete in the Phantasmoon Games, which grants the winner the prize of becoming an Aeon for one minute. And to win, you simply need to attract the most attention. This sounds like hell.

One interesting aspect of this place, however, is that even Combat is run by The Laughter. Path of Elation hero will accumulate Punchlines as they battle, with Aha joining in battles when suitably amused. They will lead the Elation characters in a barrage of skills through an Aha Instant, and then grant them a unique Certified Banger buff. 

Slotting right into this mess then is the new 5-Star Fire character Sparxie. She is a streamer who battles by engaging in a live upvote showdown with foes. Consuming Skill Points will send Gifts to Sparxie that can result in more Punchlines. I swear this whole update sounds like it was written by a middle-aged person trying to be “hip”.

Our next hero is the Physical Elation hero, and Alliance divination advisor, Yao Guang. Her kit provides multiple ways to generate Punchlines through simply using her skills. She can also regenerate Skill Points during an Aha Instant. I would be reluctant to invest if Punchlines will only be a thing in this expansion.

Honkai: Star Rail 4.0 rewards

Despite how hard I have been groaning through this, Version 4.0 is a great time to get involved. Not for the above, but because you will receive a 20-pull reward for logging in when the version launches. There are also 1,600 Stellar Jades up for grabs through the Yao Guang fortune event, and a free 5-star Character Selector

It would be remiss of me not to mention the Epic Games in the room, and I am nothing if not professional. So, Star Rail will be crossing over into Fortnite from February 26th, with Kafka and Blade heading to the warzone. There will be outfits, accessories, and weapons to collect.

And, may I just say, no thank you.
