Honkai: Star Rail 4.2 is adding Elation Trailblazer and buffs to four characters
Still a long way to go before getting any of this…
Not only did Honkai: Star Rail reveal that players are getting a brand new Elation Trailblazer, but four old characters will also be buffed. Now, before getting excited, keep in mind that all of these features will be released in version 4.2, which is two versions away from the current 4.0.
Elation is a new Path introduced in 4.0, and it revolves around stacking punchlines to deal damage. As of version 4.0, Yao Guang and Sparxie are the only two characters with the Elation path.
The Remembrance Trailblazer is a strong buffer that ranks highly on tier lists, and it makes one wonder how the Elation Trailblazer will fare on those lists. Will it surpass the other Paths, or be too niche to be useful?
Four Characters Getting A Buff In Honkai: Star Rail
The four characters getting a buff in HSR 4.2 are:- Firefly (Fire-Destruction)
- Huohuo (Wind-Abundance)
- Seele (Quantum-Hunt)
- Welt (Imaginary-Nihility)
Firefly and Huohuo are already pretty strong, so imagine them getting a buff. Firefly was "buffed" by the release of The Dahlia, and some stages still give Break DMG boost, making her the perfect character to take. Meanwhile, Huohuo is still one of the best healers. She works in any team that relies on their Ultimate. They're still relevant in the meta, so it makes one wonder what types of changes will be added to their already-great kits.
Seele used to be the best DPS when Honkai: Star Rail was first released in version 1.0. Sadly, she kept getting powercrept by newer and stronger characters, making her pretty much useless. The 4.2 update will hopefully fix her kit, or at least make her somewhat viable—justice for the OG havers.
Meanwhile, Welt's kit is basically non-existent, so it's great that he's finally getting a buff. Maybe he will finally be usable and not wilt in the background.
Before all this, we still have to go through Honkai: Star Rail 4.1. The version 4.1 livestream airs on March 13, 2026, at 07:30 AM ET or 11:30 AM GMT and will provide an overview of what to expect in HSR 4.1.
