Faction Packed turns organisation into an art form as it releases this month
This is exactly what Marie Kondo was preparing us for, and I regret not paying attention
Have you ever wanted to do battle, wielding a backpack? Well, now you can, sort of! While few will be unfamiliar with the art of inventory organisation, looking at you Resident Evil 4’s attache case, upcoming Faction Packed takes it a bit further.
And by a bit, I mean I am still not 100% I follow.
Faction Packed will mix luck with extreme precision, which is an interesting combination. Each battle is split into two stages. In the Market Stage, you purchase gear to take into battle. Then you choose how to arrange your items across multiple backpacks across six distinct colours and various sizes.
So far, so straightforward. Besides those dozen or so backpacks you bring with you.
Then it is onto the blind luck round, the Battle Phase. At the beginning of a fight, you will roll some dice, and the colours they land on will determine which of your backpacks you can use. After you select, you will then proceed to don that armour or throw your weapons at your foes. I love the thought of two battle-hardened knights frantically pulling random equipment out from a Mary Poppins bag.

Your equipment can cross multiple bags depending on how you position it, so you aren’t completely stuffed if the rolls don’t go in your favour. It is quite an interesting system, having to balance multiple possible set-ups. Do you try to have an even spread, or stack two or three colours and cross your fingers? There are even distinct Champions to choose from, offering their own items and mechanics.
Multiplayer is here too, in both friendly and combative forms. You can join a guild to take on missions together, helping the bag market continue to boom. Or, you can compete in the likes of leagues and tournaments, to see just who is the greatest bag organiser of them all. Back to Resident Evil 4 to practise, I guess.
Leon would sweep these tournaments.
Faction Packed will release on the App Store and Google Play this month.
