Disney Speedstorm turns to the dark side with upcoming Villainous Ever After update

As we all know, the greatest Disney character is Stitch. Beyond this adorable force of nature, the villains definitely rank up there. Happily, Disney Speedstorm is treating us to quite the nefarious update, with the so-called Villainous Ever After landing on April 9th.

Unfortunately, Maleficent is not here; she is the best one.

Instead, we made do with the dastardly trio of Mother Gothel, Yokai, and Shan Yu, who was quite terrifying as a child, to be fair. Mother Gothel is a Trickster who can use her Sundrop Flower for a temporary speed and boost buff. She then turns her class to Speedster, and can blind her foes before reverting to Trickster. Odd, but effective. 

Yokai can use his Microbots as a shield or for a speed boost, and when charged, can obstruct the track with a large crate. Finally. Shan Yu uses his falcon to assist him in racing, so he wins. Hayabusa can silence opponents to prevent abilities and boosts, and will steal any power-up for Shan Yu. When charged, Shan Yu switches from his motorized kart with many horsepower to his horse, with exactly one horsepower.

He does cause an avalanche that slows everyone, though, which is worth it.

Hilarious, the falcon Hayabusa can also be a Crew Member, along with the likes of Snips, Yama’s Thugs, and The Stabbington Brothers. Our villainous stable of racers will be augmented mid-season with The Incredible’s Syndrome, and Mickey Mouse's old nemesis, Pete. Jasmine, Joy, Ennui, Olar, and Baloo all join as Supercharged Racers, whilst Alice, The Mad Hatter, and the Queen of Hearts are our new Vault Racers.

Away from new racers, there is a fresh way to progress. The Star system replaces levels. Each tar is made of fragments, which are rewarded for races, and confer small stat boosts and upgrades. Grab all fragments, and you get a bigger boost. Finally, the Adventure Road is added for more progression options. You can complete challenges using specific racers to get special currency and exclusive rewards. It will launch with collections for Mickey and Friends, Aladdin, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, and most importantly, Lilo & Stitch. He is so cute and fluffy.
