Disney Speedstorm takes us to Zootopia in upcoming event
I shan’t forgive the developers for giving Nick such a lame skill...
Zootopia 2 has recently been released, reuniting us with Judy Hopps and, more importantly, Nick Wilde, and it is doing pretty well at the box office. Which, of course, means that it is time for Disney Speedstorm to cash in with a themed update! Partners in Paw kicks off December 18th, and that name made me absolutely groan.
Let's start with the new racers and with the most interesting one. When playing as Judy Hopps, whenever a character passes you, her On the Case passive gives you a speed boost and stuns those you drive into. Charge it, however, and she will record the latest used skills from opponents and use them in succession.
It sounds incredible.
Nick Wilde is sadly less impressive. He throws popsicles on the tack, which increases enemy nitro consumption and boosts his own regeneration. When charged, it does the same but more. Bit dull. Finally, we get Flash, because of course. Using his DMV powers, his charged skill will slow down the character in first place.

You can augment your crew with the likes of Bonnie and Stu Hopps, Mayor Linoheart, and, hilariously to me, Mr Big. Our Mid-Season racers will be Kuzco and Yzma from The Emperor's New Groove, and adds Pacha, Kronk, and more to the Pit. It is a shame Kronk won’t be a racer, cause his skill would absolutely include Squirrels, or Kuzcozs’ poison.
For shock and awe, you can pick up one of six new Supercharged racers, such as Kermit the Frog, Minnie Mouse, and Hercules’ Hades, the original god of sass. These boosted stats will help you in the new Ranked system. Race well, and you can earn all manner of rewards and cement your place at the top of the podium.
Speedstorm will be teaming up with Speedrun.com between December 19th and 27th for its first speedunning event, Catch the Suspect. In this, Nick and Judy will be chasing down a suspect across 15 tracks, with players competing to beat the developer's time of 40 minutes and 1 second. Very precise.
To compete, you will need to livestream and record your attempt with audio, and submit it to Speedrun. Rewards include a Licence Plate, a ZPD badge, and a slice of the $5,000.00 prize pool.
Disney Speedstorm is available from the App Store and Google Play.
