CookieRun: Ovensmash gets an update with a brand-new mode

Since it was released last month, I think it is fair to say that CookieRun: Ovensmash hasn’t exactly fired out of the gates. It's been racking up the downloads, sure, but I have seen very middling reviews. Happily, DevSisters are on the case, releasing an update with a few tweaks and additions.

If you have yet to play, Ovensmash is the first PvP offering in the CookieRun franchise. You take part in fast-paced 3v3 matches that last about three minutes. It is MOBA style, with the overhead camera and the flashy skills as you try to beat your foes. Brawl Stars but with biscuits, in short. 

Having said that, CookieRun Kingdom has that ongoing collaboration with Kpop Demon Hunters. Why is that not here? There are three main characters that would slot perfectly into this 3v3 format. Seems that it was a missed opportunity to me. Maybe they will show up here next.

Anyway, back to business.

Given that Ovensmash is built around these three-minute rounds, speed is everything. This update has managed to supercharge those gears, dropping match load times from 11 seconds to a minuscule 4.2 seconds. You can also hit the Plaza, the hub, in 2 seconds, as opposed to 6.2, making it much easier to slot in a game during lunch. 

Or, if you don’t want to take those 2 seconds to get into the Plaza, simply use the new streamlined Lobby option. You can go directly into a match and bypass the Plaza entirely, allowing you to be beaten down by the two new Epic cookies in record time. Get in your opponent's face with the Bruiser-class Camembert Cookie, or snipe from ranged with the Marksman-class Brie Cheese Cookie. 

Speaking of fights, the popular Smash Fight mode has been promoted to a permanent fixture, to the delight of many, I am sure. For a taste of something new, the Coin Rush mode will pit you in a race to collect 300 coins before the opposing team, meaning you will need to balance picking up gold and punching someone in the face. A challenge we all face.
