These two media goliaths joining forces will surely be a thing of beauty
I fear that I can feel the earth quake. My phone is quivering in the wake of tremendous incoming energy. Two massive franchises are about to come together and rock mobile gaming and animation/music fans. For today, the massive CookieRune: Kingdoms is collaborating with the hit movie KPop Demon Hunters.
Now, I barely know squat about either of these; past one of them is biscuits, and Golden is a jam. But I know a cultural moment when I see one, and I can see this one bringing in the fans. Especially with both properties continuing to grow: KPop won the Best Animated Feature and Original Song at the Academy Awards, and Cookierun is getting its own open-world adventure.
CookieRun x KPop Demon Hunters collab brings new episode, new Cookies, and minigame
This crossover takes you to the Dark Cacao Kingdom to experience a new Special Episode, “HUNTR/X Show in the Cookie World. The Saja Boys are leading a horde of demons to invade the kingdom, and it is up to you to protect the Cookie Honmoon. With three new friends, of course.
Rumi Cookie, Mira Cookie, and Zoey Cookie join the fray, bringing their expertise in demon slaying and singing to the battlefield. You can get to know their combat style fast through the Live! Survival on Stage mode, with rewards up for grabs by completing Set List missions. Or you can take the fight to the demon kind Gwi-Ma in a special boss raid.
You can also take a break from the music and take part in a surprising minigame: Derpy’s Catch the Jelly Worm. Whilst it makes sense that they would include Derpy, I expected a music game, but sure, why not? Grab the beans and aim for a high score. Finally, you can collect themed costumes for HUNTR/X and the Saja Boys, or spruce up your Kingdom with four interactive buildings. Poke them, and they trigger fun character motions and music.
The CookieRun: Kingdom x KPop Demon Hunters collaboration lasts until May 6th, so download the game from the App Store and Google Play before you miss out.
