If you look around the gaming world currently, there are some terrific games coming out. Resident Evil 9, of course, is the big one right now. The Division Resurgence is coming out this month, which will be amazing. And yet, in some ways, I am so much more excited for the Android release of Cat Quest II and III.

If you have not played them, the Cat Quest series is the embodiment of pure fun, distilled into a game. They are adorable, full of puns, easy enough that you can relax to them, and you play as a cat. Or, a dog in II, bold moves. For us mobile gamers, they were exclusive to Apple for a while, because of course they were. But now they can be mine, all mine! I mean, I have an iPhone as well, but Android is the best!

Should you get Cat Quest II or Cat Quest III?

Out of the two, Cat Quest II is more of a simple story. You play either a cat or a dog trying to free their kingdoms from evil. In single player mode, you can switch between the two whenever you like. I favour the dog, a very conflicting choice in this particular series.

Or, recruit a friend and enjoy this delightful romp in cooperative co-op. That feature is still around on the mobile version, and thanks to controller support, you can both play it as easy as you like. You can grab Cat Quest II from Google Play and the App Store for $4.99.

Cat Quest III, however, is the shining star here. Also known as the Pirates of the Purribean, you take control of the sole cat survivor of a shipwreck caused by The Pi-Rat King. You are then rescued by a pirate ghost, Cappey, and go off on an adventure across the Purribean looking for a valuable artifact known as The North Star.

It is cats plus piracy, which is the ultimate game. You do battle on land against enemies, and on your boat against other pirate ships. This, too, supports local co-op, if you want a pirate buddy. Don’t we all? Cat Quest II can be purchased from the App Store and Google Play for $19.99.
