Black Desert Mobile unveils major expansion including a shiny new class
The world of mobile-MMO spin-offs keeps rumbling, following our look at Blade and Soul Heroes last week. It is the turn of Pearl Abyss, with Black Desert Mobile releasing a massive content update that everyone can try now. It is the next chapter in the Land of the Morning Light set and has been dubbed Seoul.
You shall cross the Margoria Sea and dock at Hwanghae Province, and venture forth to the capital, Seoul. It is a land inspired by Korean mythology, somewhat obviously, and here you will experience the majesty of Gyeongbokgung Palace and marvel at the Gwanghwamun Gate. It is also here where the Land of the Morning Light storyline will come to a close.
There will also be four Tales to experience, all with a Korean flair. Chunhyang will see you team up with Dolswe to investigate a marten that suddenly appears, whilst Samsin has you unravel the mystery behind missing children. Uturi thrusts you into an elite fighting competition, whereas Bulgasal introduces us to a guardian cursed with eternal life who guards the ruins of a fallen kingdom.
For more of a challenge, head over to the Black Shrine for adrenaline-pumping duels with Samsin, Bulgasal, and Uturi. Past bosses such as Mudang Wraith will also join the fray. To help with the increased difficulty, you can use the Tag System to swap between characters from your Family, a feature that I utterly adore.

What if you want to beat up other players? Well, you can check out the revamped Arena. It features three new modes, all prefixed with “Martial God Tournament”. Spar is your classic 1v1 with point-based monthly rewards, or you can try Ascent and see if you can climb to the top of the six ranks. You can also team up with a buddy for some 2v2 in Duo, with matchmaking and ranking systems.
Now this has all been well and good, but let’s address the most exciting development: the new Seonin class. This warrior is a master of the five elements - Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. What this means for us is that it will be like a damn rave whenever you fight with them.
There is a focus of movement here, with his Rabam Skill, Nail Down, allowing him to teleport to an enemy and smack them. Even better, though, is his ability to summon the Iron Tiger for a few hits, and do we need anything else? Seonin is available for all to try, so embrace the flashy tiger man.
Black Desert Mobile is available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
