Arknights: Endfield finally opens its "Spiral Abyss"
Time to put those grinds to the test.
Spiral Abyss in Genshin Impact is the "endgame" content, where your characters are tested in a timed challenge. The faster you can complete a stage, the better score you get.
The content not only forces you to keep up to date with enemies, but also encourages spending on the newest characters. This is especially true since the stage buff always unsurprisingly matches the newest character.
Sometimes, the developer would even go as far as "nerfing" older characters by giving them disadvantages. For example, Miyabi is still one of the best characters in Zenless Zone Zero, but for a few versions, she was not viable for endgame content, since the enemies are resistant to her Element, and her playstyle didn't get any stage buff.
Typically, these "challenges" are a DPS check where your spending habit is tested more than your actual skill. Big spenders, also known as "whales," can swiftly finish the content in a few seconds, removing the entire idea of it being a challenge.
Although it's pretty lame, that's how gacha games attract their players to spend to get those shiny, new, OP characters.
Umbral Monument is coming soon to test your Operators
It has been three weeks since Endfield was first released. If you've been playing it daily, then you should be at the stage where you're only logging in to do daily tasks and spend your Sanity to raise your characters and their equipment. As of now, it feels pretty pointless to strengthen your character, since the battles are doable even without a ton of grinding, but once Umbral Monument is released, Endmins might finally feel the heat.
The first part of Umbral Monument will be here on February 12, 2026, while the second series will come two weeks later, on February 26, 2026. Since there's not much details about the stages, it's unclear which characters will be the top-tier choice for the challenge. For now, all you can do is prepare enough resources to quickly raise your Operators to the required level for battle.
If you've been slacking off with the game, just remember that the Umbral Monument will be open after you reach Authority Level 30 and complete the Chapter I Process II: Paving the Way quest.
